Bought all the bits for my first attempt at spraying, got set up, and the primer came out like flocking! It seemed to be spitting the primer onto the cardboard rather than spraying a nice wet fan. The fan itself was about 2 inches tall; nothing like what I was expecting.
The system is a 4hp compressor running through 8metres of 10mm hose, 1/2" filters (20 and 0.1 micron), to a Jonnesway HVLP gun with another water filter and a 1.4 fluid tip.
The gun is rated 3.5-5bar pressure, so I set 4bar at the filter regulator (before the hose). The primer is a 2-pack acrylic, mixed 5:1 with 10% thinners, which I measured with a mixing cup. No amount of twiddling with the gun knobs sorted out the spray, except for reducing the fluid amount.
Anyone have any ideas? Or links to a good troubleshooting guide?
