In my experience (yes I've made mistakes too) T&G is not the best thing for gates as the tongue will swell and jam or break the grove outwards, using rebated lap joints is better, as it cannot jam when expanding or contracting. twisting and slamming can also break the T&G joints.
It looks like your timber is sitting on the bottom rail, which would mean the water is trapped, much better to set the bottom rail back and allow the timber to pass down in front enough for water to drip off rather than the ends sitting wet.
Basic rules are, indoors cramp tight as timber will shrink, outside leave gaps between boards and edges.
For a high quality look aways fix boards with the heart side outwards, as the wood always curls away from the heart, the edges will then stay tight against the frame.
