I am so over the moon with this even more now
As usual Fizzy put a link up on here from an Ebayer as a BIN. I actually didnt want a lathe for a while yet and have no funds but when i seen this i got it within 10 mins of seeing it and smiling at SWMBO . And at £380 ding dong i say
Its a beaut, all i need. nd the size is perfic for the workshop. Just spent al morning trying to get it in and rearranging the place. It fits in just right now.
I was told this is a an ExGerman Navy lathe made by Union Werk AG which was removed some years ago from the ship by a chap that was rather high up in the Navy chain, not sure what he did with it but the sold it to a chap many years ago that used it for making model parts for steam engines etc. He sadly passed away not to long ago and his sun had the job of arranging the clearance of his dads workshop. The chap i bought it is in the trade of workshop clearances and this is how i came to find it, well Fizzy did Thanks Fizzy
I think it was a bit of a sentimental item as the bloke thats dad had died was rather upset as it had been in the family for so long. It will be looked after here
I wish i could find out more about it but as yet nothing much more is known.
Anyway pics
Chap that i got it off delivered for more, a bit of a bonus there. Although i had to leave it outside the workshop all night as i struggles to get set up in time to get it in.
Stand needs sorting properly yet, rather it have amore solid top. i could see about some 5mm plate and bend that to a new coolant bed. I was thinking on 4x2x1/8 RHS frame but then the lathe will sit 4 inch higher and its a good height as it is. Ill think on this.
Its a dam fair old lump for the size. built like a tank.
got loads of accessories aswell with it. .
