Some beads
Have rather nice headache and shaky hands today.
Bit of oil bubbled through on some.
Clean surface would be my first consideration, that surface looks really dirty ?

Yes governor I am planning to do just that next week....already got some 2mm and 1.5 cut and ready....just got to get a refill and my new tig kit should be hear soonWhether you want to hear it or not Mr spencer your skill level is beyond bead on plate IMO. Joints are where you should be heading and stepping down on thickness. I believe we worked with hefty 3,4mm stuff so now it's time to go 1.5-2mm
I must admit that a clean surface is a must as I found out.time consuming sometimes to clean it but the rewards are better.Clean surface would be my first consideration, that surface looks really dirty ?
New Tig kit. What did u order ?Yes governor I am planning to do just that next week....already got some 2mm and 1.5 cut and ready....just got to get a refill and my new tig kit should be hear soon.
Yes possibly, but it may put him off for life.....im ok with mild and stainless, nice strong welds in most positions, but thin ali i struggle with, probably need a pedal.
When i was learning trying with 1.5 mm ali, i near gave up, was ready to throw machine in the skip, would have been a good skip find for someone. Tried steel and got a feel.
As stubby gas kit and a box of ten of them short ceramics. ....
Not really a great idea to try to properly learn AC Tig without a pedal, as control of the weld pool is far more difficult. If you dont have pedal, getting one is probably a very good idea if you have AC capable set.
Whilst I can appreciate that a foot pedal is a useful tool I would say it is far from essential. I would suggest it is better to understand the relationship between current, material thickness, travel speed and how the parent material behaves and set your parameters accordingly to start with.
I can adjust from the torch but not easy, i must buy a pedal, just always seems to be something else to buy first.
New fencing has sapped disposable this month. Always something when you have land, animals as well as a shed!
Hi. Patents is what you need I'm afraid. Tig welding is a skill and like all skills you've got 2 routes.
Some more playing. My difficulty now is I need some 1mm filler I'm currently using .8 real hard to hold and advance.
There is a butt one half is very tight next half has a gap about 1-1.5 in aid of challenge.
A lap joint
And a fillet.
Due to trouble being able to feel the filler i did blow a hole before getting enough in
I'm getting my eye and hand used to being about a mm from the corner.
The but joint is better..but you need to get that metal clean..really clean..I would practice on flat runs and not the time fillets...once you get a steady flow going then have a go at the fillets....just keep practicing fella..it will not happen over night....View attachment 73545
Once you dial you hands in and maintain good arc length you will start to see improvement.pic is some of my practice runs....any chance you get to practice will help..Clean metal like picture. ..View attachment 73546
