Sorry for slow reply. I think the circular saw idea sounds like it would have a better finish too. I even have high tooth TCT blade I bought some years ago and never got round to using.

you dont want too high a tooth count, not like a metal blade anyway, but not the really course ripping blades, more of a finer cut wood one, 48 tooth or something

I ran some 1/8" thick aluminum diamond plate last week on the CNC.
Cut came out nicer that I thought it would, 100 amps and 50 ipm.
Ran the water up very close under the slats, about 1/4"-3/8" gap under the bottom side
of the plate.
