I have a snap on mig that goes down to 20amps that would be perfect for it.
Although its got a type 36 torch that id need to change, way too oversized!
never actually worked on a vehicle before tbh so I know its not the best choice but hey ho, I can learn

They cant be THAT bad if theres discos with 200,000+ miles that still run surely .. I mean im not planning on keeping it for the rest of my life, still will get a pick up later.

Yeah, I was careful too, during my lessons, but then I passed my test and have been a bloody awful driver ever since.

Haha I dunno, whatever car I get im gonna spend abit of time just practicing in a quiet area to get a feel for it before just straight out driving normally.

Series landys seem like theyd be so cheap on insurance and to repair .. but having only ever driven a yarris so far I can imagine me having problems with actualy driving the thing and I dont see them being hard to steal off my drive ..

Luckily your weight training will help as you need arms like popeye due the non-power assisted steering

What's the deal with vegetable oil in a disco?
Anything special need to be done for it run on it?
Getting used veg oil and filtering it would actually cost me nothing .. not short of restaurant owners in the family lol.

It has to be processed with sodium hydroxide and methanol to make it more like diesel. The result is biodiesel and glycerine, which separates out.

discos will run on filtered veg thinned with diesel no need to make bio we know they are direct injected but as said you need a lot more info to do this
it is also messy and time consuming but it does work

Yeah that's what I was thinking, glad I can do that then ... that brings the running cost down

Is it a MOT issue if I just do away with all the rear seats? Rather have the space.

Bear in mind that a Disco will cost you 24p a mile in fuel* whereas a small hatchback will be closer to 11p a mile**.
Plus a large difference in tyre costs.

*Disco = 25mpg @ £1.32 per L diesel
** Daihatsu Charade = 50mpg @ £1.27 per L petrol

unless you run it on SVO ( or new veg oil ) around £88pl sometimes less if you can find a good wholesaler, or used veg oil, i used to pay 25pl, filter it and away you go, in summer 100% can be used, winter 5-10% petrol added and its fine, done near 20k miles with no problem and a 890 mile caravan trip for £45 on the used

Insurance is a funny thing, I went from a 4.0 V8 to a 1.8i and insurance went up 50%

thats because you were a lower risk with the v8 as they though he wont do many miles in that thirsty beast

I thought that the rise of people using SVO had pushed the price up to nearly that of diesel?

Not up here, my mate used to get it for our Shoguns for 86pl from a wholesale near us, thats only 4 months ago. even in super markets its around £ 19 for 20l, must be down south where you get ripped off good time lol

I remember buying my first car in 2007.. A little 1.2 1996 corsa... £3.5k I paid for that first year...then £2.5K the year after and then it began to slope towards the £1.3k mark at the third year, and then it hung around at the £900 - £1K for a few years then began to sneak back up, by this time I was driving a volvo 740 2.3 , and when the hike of insurance came I had to reluctantly sell for a smaller car... a year later it came down again, so I bough another Volvo, and S40 1.8, I've never made a single claim, nor had an accident or anything.

I know a lot of the cost excuses are just a load of bull made up by the insurance companies. I don't care for 'statistics' If I wanted someones custom or more accurately to rob someone blind, I'd be pulling out all the stops and giving every excuse under the sun to 'justify' the premium cost of insurance. They are legally the highwaymen of the car world, second place to the tax man. Of course once you've purchased your insurance , there's all the crap like 'mileage limits' and all that.

As for cars, here young drivers are allowed to drive anything with no more than 260BHP, so no turbo charged/supercharged V8's but
that's not all that bad, you can pass your test and buy an old 5.4 V8 that makes 200BHP and still have a big daft smile on your face.

You can't run away from cops though, they'd chase you in a HSV 6.2 V8 Commodore with 5-600BHP...

I didn't realise it would be such a wait to get a test, shouldve passed my theory earlier (which was possibly the easiest test I've ever took, how do people even fail it?!)

Gotta wait till the end of September so got a little time to find a decent disco, seem to come up quite frequently around me but in going to pick up the next best one I see now, ive let too many good ones go because I didnt want it just sitting in drive.
I can live with a mileage limit for the first year, only really to get me to uni and back 3 times a week (only 14 miles there/back)

Leaving a car sitting around for a couple of month isn't all that bad, just run it each week up to temperature to keep the battery charged and an oil film up in the head of the engine. Or, have a friend/ trusted neighbor to drive it once in a while for you. I left my volvo s40 back in England on my parents drive, where I left it a year ago, and he starts it and runs it each week, rolls it backwards and forwards to keep the brakes from binding and all is good and that's been going on now for a year and its fine.
