First attempts

After getting my welder set up i got impatient and had a go, not really knowing what i was doing.....not pretty!


Then i watched a youtube vid about setting up the wire speed, that was recommended on here and the results were much better


Seems to be good penetration


Just after your opinions on the welds and tips for improving thanks

Should say its a sealey supermig 195, using co2 flowing about 8, wire speed about5 and half, power setting was 3 i think. steel about 1 or 2mm thick, all cleaned up.

Top photo welds had no gas flowing, or being removed by wind/draughts.

Middle photo better but still looks like some gas issues at times, up it to 10 lpm

Have you got an auto darkening mask?

Comfort is important, resting your weld hand across your other hand, with decent gloves to prevent jumping when hit by a spark.

Adjust your settings slowly, you will be able to see and here when it's right and have a good read of the tutorials on here.
