Ok, so this is a learning experience (as obvious by quality of the welds), but it's no big deal if I have to just get new panels.
I had a bit of grief marking and grinding the patch panel out, but got something I thought was acceptable eventually, but tacking it at the corners and working around, it seemed that it was immediately expanding in that as I welded along, it was like the furthest away tack was constricting it.
Warp, I was kinda expecting, but my question is, given the shape, what might have been the ideal route to take welding this? Short sections, and cool with the air line in between perhaps?
At this stage, and appreciate its possibly not easy to tell from the pic, if I grind it flush, do you reckon its saveable with a bit of beating or would I really be better off cutting and starting again?
Given I have full access, should I be welding both sides to try and keep warp "equal" or just one side and control the warp?
Back killing me and kept having to stop/start which didn't help either. Blew thru a couple times as well so had to fill those. Deep shame etc..
Parweld xtm 201i, argon 15, 0.6mm welding 1.5mm mild
7.6ws and 12.9v
Thanks for any advice!
