Hello,
For a long time I wanted to get myself a tig but because I wanted to buy a good machine, decided to go cheap while I get a chance to save up, so I bought a Telwin force 165. And a pack of 6013s to go with it.
After about 8-10 hours of welding time I've learnt to strike an arc more often, than to stick the rod, which I am proud of.
I practiced a bit on a flat plate for a while to do 'straight' beads and decided to tackle my first project - had to make square tube from bunch of 6mm flat bar stock.
The result you can see in pictures - some parts look not terrible, in my opinion, others I'd rather not show but anyways - here they are. I would greatly appreciate any constructive criticism and advise.
Setup is as follows:
2.5mm 6013 rods
about 75-80 amps
on Telwin Force 165
Flat bar stock is about 6mm thick
Joints are essentially butt joints (this is not an outer corner joint).
I tacked the pieces together then ground a fairly wide angle grove and filled it with weld. Parts which did not come out fully filled I ground down and made a second pass.
In some places I get undercut (I think, it's undercut, where the arc gauges a small rounded cavity right next to weld itself?)
Some welds look like the arc is too short? I am maybe too worried to not long-arc it, so I cram the rod in there too much.
