One thing you could do is look through the parts catalogues and see if any of the control pcbs have revision numbers or different numbers for different markets, anything like that?
Market variations would point to them being programmed at the factory. One version would suggest the dealer buys the board blank then loads whatever software they have onto it. Even then I dont expect they have a choice of versions.
The only welder I have ever seen where the end user can do much is cebora. Even then adding a new synergic line or something needs the dealer kit and I dont know if that replaces or just adds to the existing software?
