Fire!

I smelt smoke leaving the lane for work this morning so went to investigate....
After half an hour I found this.,

Looks like it was lit last night and has burned under the leaf litter and into the soil!
I didn't have enough water to put it out so had to call the fire brigade. Not big but can't take the risk of it reignighting as it's unbroken bone dry woodland right up to our house's!
Little tossers, if I catch them I'll use their hands to put it out. Second fire this week!

Looking at the burn pattern it appears to be as you would pour in an arc from a container.

That's the trouble with all the news at the moment regarding the fires worldwide, it puts ideas into the heads of sick and stupid individuals who would take great pleasure watching the destruction they cause.

Yes unfortunately it's the brains of some of today's generation. They love nothing more than to watch destruction . They need kicking in a fire .

It isn't easy to see in the pics but it looks like it was set in the hollow of the tree then slowly spread out.

Idiots. They should be found and made to pay the costs for the call out of the Emergency Services.

I am on my third call out to the forest for fires this year, only one was an actual worry (one was a person vaping while laying in the grass so it looked like it was grass on fire and one was a nothing found) a festival was happening in a neighbouring woods and someone camped (with out permission and against the law) in the woods i work in and decided they would have a little camp fire. Member of the public found them and told them to put it out, they did so but the fire was still hot when I was told of it the following day, And it was hot 6 inches down so had to dig out and soak.... thank goodness we are on clay and have really active fungi and ants that get rid if most of the leaves

This is far to common, fools, Muppets and other humans who don't understand what a small fire can lead to.

Wednesday my work friend and 1 spent 14 hours commissioning 150 9lt Foam and 9lt water fire extinguishers for a contract we have. They have requested extra for their wardens 4 x 4. Normally they have 6 on board, but now they are carrying 6 foams and 4 waters. Plus a few more at emergency road sign stowage lock ups.

This new order is in additional to the one places in May of the 300 service replacements.
The good news is from the 300 they had used 240 could be refilled and recharged.

One Warden told us a small fire broke out in a picnic area, all down to a disposable BBQ.

Disposable bbqs are a problem, but we have more issues (woodland management company) with so called chinese Lanterns, light the paper, let it fill most the way, get bored, let go.... watch it drop on a field of dry grass.....
