Ah!.... so you are already part way there. Cabling would probably be your only option My furnace is just on the other side of house wall. As to temp...I don't think even near the foundry would set off the heat alarm. Hasn't so far. In the old days the electromechanical ones had 2 (bimetal?) elements. One had a damper so that if the temp came up slowly and didn't hit max then no alarm. Rapid increase set off the CO² extinguishers in the substation.Yes that's the sort of thing I need - have you any idea of how far apart they can be? The foundry is probably 100 yards from the house and steel framed which doesn't help WiFi range.
(We've 9 smoke detectors and 1 heat detector in the farm house - all interlinked, and they make an enormous racket when triggered !)
