Thank you. Don’t go to any bother. I’ll have a look at that reg first and see ifWe have one in the loft. It had to meet certain regs as my wife was child minding at the time. Can’t get to it just now but if you want pictures i can do them this evening
Good point.be a good thing to make out of alumin , if it needs moved about ,, maybe the light weight would make the selling point ,, again , just thinking out loud
actually no theres not and i will explainTurns out there is a reg:
“EN1930:2011. Published by the European Committee of Standardisation (CEN), it specifies the safety requirements and testing methods for child safety barriers for indoor use, which are designed to be fitted across openings to limit access, and to prevent children up to the age of 24 months from passing through”
Whoda thunkit!
There is that.My concern with metal guards is that there is potential for them to get very hot. Now I fully appreciate they will not be as hot as the wood burner but I think having the guard can lull people into a false sense of security.
While I agree, kine is on the edge of the hearth, which is the required 400mm from the fire and its hot but not burning hot with the 5kw fire going full chat.My concern with metal guards is that there is potential for them to get very hot. Now I fully appreciate they will not be as hot as the wood burner but I think having the guard can lull people into a false sense of security.
Thank you. I’ll draw something up and see how I get on. Oddly he wants 720 minimum height which is about the same as yoursIt’s a panel affair, makes it easy to fit round any fire. Has brackets that secure it to the wall, they can be left on the wall and the fire guard removed whilst not needed. One of the panels is a gate, handy for getting to the fire. Locked with the same lock as a stair gate. Pictures are rubbish but you’ll get the gist of it. It’s alluminium but I lost two of the bars and replace them with steel hydraulic pipe

I think when we looked at getting a guard the minimum height was 70cm. This might just have been a “suggestion “ by the lady doing the checks.Thank you. I’ll draw something up and see how I get on. Oddly he wants 720 minimum height which is about the same as yours
Here’s one I made last year.
