Finishing jobs welded on site - best coating system?

Hi Guys,

Trying to find the best system for jobs that have been welded on site.

For example:

We get a set of gates galvanized & powder coated/painted with high build paint. We have to adjust something on site so burst the galv & paint , weld, then have to refinish.

Having a few issues with these areas after a few weeks with rust popping through.

What methods do you use to ensure at least a year/few years without these areas needing attended to?

get it right so u dont have to remove the galv measure twice and all that

Are you using Galvafroid where the galvanising is removed once the area is wire brushed and the powder coat feathered back.
Have never had a problem with it.

Then coat with a black your powder coat guy should be able to advise something to match.

Hi Thanks for reply.

Do you prefer the tin and apply it or spray? will any galvafroid spray/tin do the job?


Also, if a job is not getting galvanized and we are only primer and painting it, what paints do you find give the best, rust free finish?
