Finished my first roll today

As per title, I finished my first reel of 0.6mm wire today, 5KG jobbie, so I've done a fair bit of action. Nightmare getting the new reel to feed, had to fettle the liner at the feed end, re-fettle the swan neck liner, fiddle with the feed rollers etc. Took ages. Feed is still not right, variable speed once I go above 5 on the dial, it's not slipping, just the motor runs badly.

I'm thinking it is upgrade time. This MIG cost me all of £30, works OK, but I have a whole BMW 635CSI floor/sill welding job to do.

Also got my BOC Y cylinder of argoshield light, but the adaptor for my CO2 reg leaks.

Bought a Portamig and torch upgrade of him recently, although he has three heads, smells of diesel and has a soon to be rusty Alfa he seems to be nice guy.

Jim, if the reel you just finished fed ok but the new one doesn't then it may simply be a badly wound reel. I had one once, perfect until about 3/4 of the way down then flatly refused to feed even though I couldn't actually see anything wrong with it. Changed it and ran the new one out completely with no 'fettling'.
Take it back and get it replaced .
