Finish for galvanising?

I have a new line of plant tubs I'm working on, picture of one below, and they will be going for galvanising, any idea what sort of surface finish i need to shoot for?

I guess its not a delicate process like powder coat so the odd swirl won't show through?

They are geometric shapes and were fully seam welded then ground and final sanded but not to a paintable finish.

I've never prepped my steel for galvanising apart from drilling drain holes and hanging points. You don't need drain points but you will need a hanging point that allows the planter to drain when lifted.

Grit blasting is usually used for prep iirc

The acid/wash/whatever it is, predip gets rid of most stuff.

Centrifugally spun galv goes on much thinner and might show some of those marks but I doubt you'd be doing that. I don't even know if anyone does it for things that big.

I like the planter a lot but it would have to be a fire pit for me!

One other thing to consider, how thick is the steel? It looks like it could be 6mm, in which case, all fine and dandy. Lighter stuff tends to sag and warp a bit on flat areas and that would spoil the look a bit.

It will be hot-dip gal, Acrow Galvanising Ltd in Herts.

The metal is 3mm and they reckon it will be fine, these are demo models so live and learn on them.
