There could be a valid reason, but not replying to @Richard. about possible leads does make me question just how serious an enquiry it really is.
Or maybe it's not exactly the type of work he wants - a bit like the machinists I've seen who refuse to sweep up after themselves because "it's not my job" and then complain about swarf in their shoes...
