Hi SierraV6,
To be brutally frank I had never heard of it myself till 3 years ago, despite it being formed in 1971.
I have struggled on to restore my project motor & sometimes I have had to pay for specialist tasks, only to find the club has gear you can use to do it yourself.
I was only put onto the club by a chance remark by another forum member.
My only problem is it’s a 40 min trip to get to the club. If only they would consider expanding their operations to Teesside!!

Hi Richiew,Ron, don't forget to ask on here. I'm all the gear no idea so I may have something you might need to use in future.
Hi Coldclimate, my everyday drivers are a disco sport & an mk3 Mx5. However, Ive posted this before, this is the motor Im trying to get driveable. RonA
Mine is the Mk3 with the power top. My opinion is it’s the Lotus Elan Colin Chapman should have built (I owned an Elan +2 once) With its low CG & multi link rear suspension it goes round corners as if on a rail. The engine is very sedate to 3000rpm & the takes off, power wise I would compare it to an MGB, it’s no turbo powered rocket, although the 2 litre will be faster than my 1.8. The power hood is smooth & quick.Ron, what's your opinion on the mx5? I am thinking about getting a hard top mk3 2 litre for the summer.
Just out of idle curiosity, how much is your course costing you?Sorry for the very slow reply - life got busy.
I'm just strating a MIG course though Gateshead College. 3 hours every Tuesday night for 12 weeks. Shall post back what it's like.
@RonA I am an MX5 devotee. I've a MK1 at the moment and I think it's my 5th. I've not had a mk3, currently wondering about a mk4.
£350 Ouch.!! Good luck on the course, suppose £350 will seem like a good investment in years to come.£350 but it would be covered if I was job seeking or under a certain age. It's only covering MIG "level 1" (I think I get a city and guilds out of it at the end). I guess it works out about a tenner an hour. Really I wanted to pay about the same amount but over 2 or maybe 3 days, but I didn't find anywhere.
Await my proud posts of **** welds with baited breath
