I would prefer to start with a vacuum cleaner and paintbrush, and an air duster, before resorting to solvents.Sorry...100% alcohol...didn't do any harm on my Kemppi and was the only way of getting the muck off.

Provided solvents are brown dry and allowed to fully evaporate before turning it back on it can't do any harm. Indeed it will clean alot more thoroughly.I would prefer to start with a vacuum cleaner and paintbrush, and an air duster, before resorting to solvents.
What size do you need? I have some indistrial filter material in the garage loft.
I was going to do the same, but last time I had the cover off mine it was pretty clean (dust cover when not in use) so didn't bother.
