That's a thought, I wonder if my "analogue" KA mount lenses will work on my digital K-x?

I believe so, but I have never owned a Pentax so tend not to take part when they are discussed on forums.

I remember going to the Daily Express photo exibition in London in 1981, Had a great time seeing all the gear that was available and the results that could be got with it, The Nikon stand had a 35mm camera bolted to a stand sporting a ultra wide angle lens the domed front element was enormous.With a 220* angle field of view, Looking through it you could see folks standing either side of you and even your own feet!!

Unsure of the specifics with the Kx, but as an owner of K10D/K20D, I can tell you they work fine with KA lenses. There are still bargains out there, even on ebay, if the timing is right. I've been discovering many of the film AF Pentax lenses are now quite under-rated, but as time goes on and sensors become more pixel-packed, even the best of the old lenses will start to show shortcomings. At the moment, for most people and most applications, the resolution needed is more than adequately met with a happy (and cheap) marriage of old and new.

It seems the film was quite badly damaged during loading, so I've binned that tank and will wait for the new one.

I'm quite surprised at the number of people interested in film, and if anyone has a medium format slr (Bronica etc) they want rid of then feel free to pm me

I really miss shooting film. Once I'd finished my degree it just became too expensive to carry on doing due to the sheer number of processing houses closing.

I've still got all my film kit hanging around. Favourite toys were the Sinar Wolf 5.4 and the Mamyia RB67. Both lovely to work with.

About 30 years ago I used to print my own b/w photos on a Krokus enlarger with I think a Schneider lens. Still in boxes upstairs. I still have the Olympus OM10 SLR I got for my 21st, with a few lens and all the original boxes. Also have a few old Kodak and Eastman cameras.

Amazing how times have changed in the photography world, but I still love to see the work of Ansell Adams or Richard Avedon as there is a charm to film camera images that you just don't get with digital. In the same way I prefer Ray Harryhausen special effects to the CGI of Transformers.

I still have all my old Nikon and Mamiya kit, and can't imagine ever getting rid of it. Like Farside, I loaded up on kit in the mid-2000s when people were dumpng it, but now prices have mostly recovered. The problem I find is that I have less time to go out taking photographs, and carrying a bag full of cameras and lenses around knackers my shoulder and back in a way it never did when I was younger.

One thing I would say to Kayos is that B/W processing is much less critical of temperature than colour. If you're working in a centrally heated house and get the solutions to 20C before use, they're unlikely to drift more than half a degree during use (if at all) and that difference is hardly noticeable in the end result. Take a temperature measurement a minute or so before the scheduled end of the process, and if necessary add or subtract 30 seconds or so to/from the overall time.

I've done plenty of developing, both b&w and colour, the temp controlled water bath just means I can set the temp, chuck the bottles in and load the reels up

I actually came to film after digital, thought I'd give it a go with a cheap body I could use with an EF lens, then I bought a succession of older and older cameras but tend to stick to 60's and 70's slr's as they seem solid and well built.

Gave up on film 15 years ago... even home development and printing and buying bulk film is just not cost effective any more.

Still nothing like developing your own prints though.

For the foreseeable future I will stick with digital

I've got nothing against temperature controlled water baths etc. If you've got them use them... I'm more than slightly miffed that I've not got round to using an ATL1500 film processor I bought over 5 years ago for transparency processing. It coincided with losing the use of my darkroom; something I'm still coming to terms with.

I have a bag of Canon digital gear, which is handy for pictures of the boy to email, Facebook etc.

However, I still love and actively use film. I've a Rolleicord, Rolleiflex T, YashicaMat 124G, Leica, Canon EOS100 and more Pentax bodies and lenses than I can recall. Recently bought a Pentax Auto 110.

Dunno what it is, I just can't put it down.
