filling holes

i am nearly ready to start painting the tanks and other panels from my suzuki gsx project. the side panels have badges on that are held on through 2 small (prob 3 or 4 mm) holes. i am finding it impossible to find another badge, as i only have one so was going to get rid of the baged and holes so my question is this-

i would always normally weld up holes and always use little or no filler but in this case they are plastic panels so it looks like im gonna have to fill em. what is the best way of doing this. in the past i have fibre glassed the back then then filled in the front of the hole but i am worried it will end up cracking out and want to do a decent job. short of plastic welding is there any better ways/tips/products that will make this easier?

if it was me , i would look on the plastics to find the type it is , then purchase a suitable 2 part plastic thats made for that type

bevel the edges both sides and rough it up , if the back isnt seen then cover a bigger area , then sand smooth once dry

Steve's right don't bother trying fibreglass as it won't stick to the plastic I'm afraid.

If it's ABS Plastic then the Acetone trick would work a treat. I use Acetone and scrap ABS for all my fairing repairs, every panel on my Thunderace was broken and now you cannot see one repair.

Google "Acetone ABS Lego repair" I say google it because there are better explanations than In can do.

But in simple terms the Acetone makes the ABS turn into liquid form so with scrap ABS you can make your own liquid ABS plastic. With just cracks you can Vee behind and slowly repair the panel without any other work, it also remains as flexible as the original part.

Thanks Busastars, I need to repair one of my Vito's mirror covers, the wife may soon be missing some nail varnish remover and I am sure my boys have far too much Lego.

Just make sure it's pure Acetone, even if you have to buy some it is cheap and most paint shops sell it, I bought 1L of ebay and still have a bit left, used it for loads of stuff. Also make sure it's proper Lego not Duplo, what I am still using is a lump of an old bracket made from ABS, also used an old TV Remote Controller to make my ABS Plastic sludge mix but if you look around the house you can find lots of stuff made from ABS ( lots of kid's toys )
