Hi Everyone,
I am new to the forum and although I am not new to welding I've not attempted what I am asking here, so I hope its not a silly question.
I have an exhaust with a stripped thread in the heat riser mounting flange, the exhaust is 2nd hand but barely used, its for an early beetle. The previous owner has drilled the hole to accept a larger bolt.
Is it possible to fill the hole which is approx 6mm diameter in the 5mm thick plate with weld, grind it flush and drill and tap a thread in it ? or will the weld be too brittle, I know mig weld is fairly hard.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Kev
