treat your self , think of them more as a rasp than a file , they work well on plastic too .Never felt the need, just a normal one and chalk it.

dont you find they clog ... milen cut for me , more like a plane , but easy cleaned , again usually chalked , or waxed if no chalk is handy , being a diver theres always way about.I've two or three Dreadnoughts. If you want to remove soft material rapidly by hand, they're the DBs.

Bastard
No ,, thats every file when youve just rubbed it a few too many times on something you spent ages making .
Millen , we used to call them , but it was just cos it sounded like milling , Im sure theres a real name though.
There is i have a draw of blunt ones
That's interesting, if I can ask please: why are farrier tools regulated, and why should they be?
I'm guessing it is for animal welfare, to try and reduce the number of hoof injuries caused by skinflint horse owners
trying to re-shoe horses, but getting it wrong?
Do farriers legally need a qualification, like vets for example? I thought they were more like blacksmiths with horsey connections.
Sorry for the diversion you have sparked my curiosity!
I've looked on line and can't see a problem. Horse & Farrier Supplies in the Midlands seem to have them on sale with no restrictions.

So old blunt files make fabulous scrapers if you touch them up correctly on a grinding wheel!
"excuse me do you have any dick files?" "no Sir but we have plenty of files for dicks"I had a load of Stubbs made files, which were made in Sheffield i think ? Excellent quality. Also America made Nicholson files, they moved the factory to Mexico and the quality went south along with it. All getting blunt now, so i will have to replace some. Some local engineers suppliers and stockists here don't even bother keeping files in stock anymore, and if they do they are rubbish quality, just ment for knocking burrs of things coming out of the cnc machines.
I seen this company online, Dick files........No sniggering at the back. Look top quality, but i'd say they are expensive.
