I don't know why I didn't think the light would come on for speedo I have diagnostics for Vauxhall and it does everything, must have been having one of those moments

Those 1.25's can be right little oil burners the oil rings gum up and stick,i've done a few replaced rings and a hone, away again for another 70K they need more than REGULAR oil changes.
that oil COULD have done the cat in but it is probably a management fault like maybe lamda 1 bank 1 is covered in crud from burnt oil and is switching slowly.
Cat is usually only duff if lamda 2 bank 1 is following lamda 1 reading virtually identically meaning cat is not doing its job.
PS if gettin the eggy smell cat is usually still good enough .

You could buy a similar car 3 years newer with what they want to repair that one, scrap it and get on Autotrader

Have seen it on Corsa B, but now with most cars having an EML and a 'service' light, I would expect the service light. Its a bit of a pointless code as even the dimmest of drivers doesn't need a light to tell them the speedo isn't working. But can be handy as a code because it rules out failure of the actual speedo and helps point to the sensor assembley.
