MOD Following on from

Please add any temporary field repairs you have done on vehicles, machinery &c to get going again.
I've moved those posts from here that don't specifically relate to MOD manuals.
Used to hang around an Auto Parts store when younger, before parts stores were big chain stores. An old timer came in and told the story of having a big end connecting rod bearing wear out about 800-900 miles from home, Arizona to Ohio in the USA. Did not have much money. Pulled the old bearing out and put a piece of leather belt in it's place. Got 30-40 miles out of it before needing replaced again. After several changes He figured out He needed a little clearance for the oil. Once sorted out He was able to get around 100 miles on a change. My how times have changed!
