Hi all. Recently, I had a customer show up with a fibreglass panel primed with a Silver Butyrate. Having prepped and painted the panel, it immediately reacted. Confused as to what it was, I concluded there was a reaction between the Butyrate and the 2K topcoat. Only tonight was it brought to my attention that the factory where the panel was made, use a silicon release agent, and that the panel in question was manufactured in a rush. The panel I therefore concluded still has the release agent on. It all lines up now... so the question is, to prevent having to strip back the Silver Butyrate, is there a primer that can be applied to act as a barrier? Is there an anti-silicon additive that can be added to topcoat? Or is my only option to strip it right back?
