Fibreglass - fireproof?

I'll be grinding near to fibreglass in the near future, can the sparks from grinding damage/set on fire the fibreglass? Thanks.

no. sparks hitting it will almost certainly damage the gelcoat but it takes way more heat than that to light the cured resin in fibreglass.

It is highly unlikely to catch fire. If the fibreglass is needing to remain "pretty" then it would not be a great idea, just like car windscreens and grinding.

Its hard to set it on fire.
But once its burning its harder to put it out.

If you have grinder sparks hitting it the smell given off is pretty bad, if it's in a house I'd probably throw a fire blanket or something down if I could to reduce the smell.

i use fibreglass when testing wood stoves

it goes brown and solid form as it burns in the flames but dosnt set alight

I'm not sure of we are talking about plain Fibreglass (like insulation) or laminate (like a boat)

My comment above was with reference to laminate. If the glue catches fire its hard to put out. The glass fibres will survive quite well though!
