Om3, some muppet has damaged one end of a multiform. I don't know exactly what at the mo as I'm not on site.
Will probably have to repair several cores. Are the mechanically fixed ends any good? Or do I really need to get them welded and polished?
No idea right now... iirc its 6 or 8 pair swa, preterminated. I knew they would break it during installation..I do indeed.
I've used Amp Lightcrimp mechanical ones before and they are not too bad, nowhere near as good as a proper end though and success rate while terminating can be hit and miss but they can get you out of trouble.
Not many people site polish anymore, you just cant match the low losses of a pigtail and splice. Do you have any other info of the damage?
Lovely neat job thereSure do, just finished up 480 SM and MM splices at Wenlock Works, London. I have my own splicer, OTDR and Fluke DTX with fibre heads.
