Fiberglass cost

Labour + mold costs aside, what sort of cost is a fiberglass "shell" or "panel" by the square meter?
Even a rough guess would do - is it £10, £50, £100? £500?

Basically, I'm after a rough price to make self supporting 2m x 2m panels, with stiffening, to make a collapsible bolt together building.

I'm away from home, and I can't do the research on my phone

I want a container in my back garden, but don't have access since the field was sold off and developed.
So I got thinking about bolt together/prefab - and I was wondering how fiberglass compares vs concrete, steel, or timber

depends on what your using your fibreglass container for bigegg

fibreglass is fine for baths and hot tubs but might be questionable if you are using it as a parts washer

probably outlast wood but your still using a wood frame to frame it all up

concrete is used more for oil enviroments for both storage of water and a collection point if the tanks bursts or leaks mailnly for contamination effect

steel has its faults but in time will rot out or spring a leak

note fibre glass will have to be protected against frost damage

Surprisingly expensive. I made three car radiator shrouds plus the mould and that cost about £100. They were two feet square with a big hole in the middle.
Fibreglass doesn't like bolt holes near the edges, they usually crack or the bolts pull through.
East Coast Fibreglass Supplies can supply ready made sheets in any RAL colour you like, £180 plus VAT for 1 x 2.4m x 1.2m sheet 4mm thick, they can CNC cut it if you wish

There's a place in cleckmondfaxheatonwyke that makes fibreglass substations which sort of gave me the idea.
Plus: fiberglass roofs are extant, so they can't be *that* susceptible to frost?

Watch the local ads and buy up some sectional concrete garages. Very often you can get them for the hassle of removing them, then you can bolt then together in any shape suitable for your purpose.

I dismantled two and built a room to house my induction furnace at the last place and it worked out very well. Put a decent roof on it which should be your only outlay as you probably won’t want the original roofs.

That's always been my standard MO - No.1 and No.2 shed were obtained like this - as were sheds B, C, & D at my last house - but I'm just wondering if there is a profit in fiberglass prefabs, rather than concrete ones.

cheapest way for a container damp proof it then do a floating wall and floor

the damp proof layer acts as both the seperator from the metal sides
but allows you to stick the insulation right up against the plastic that your walls are supporting

They're really not cheap, and they're heavy, plywood coated in grp. There's another sort with a honeycomb between the grp, lighter, but even more expensive.

Some are wood, but that is no longer the norm, many are a foam and honeycombed Fiberglass sandwich, light and strong.
plywood versions are as you say very heavy and not very well insulated. The new styles are easily attached to an alloy frame with all sorts of fittings available including hinges, gutters and windows.

The wood filled ones were the ones used the majority of the time in the two body building firms I worked at. Foam filled are only used for fridge and freezer wagons, and we hardly ever used naps panels (the honeycomb ones) a handful of times because of the cost of them.

GRP up and over garage doors, especially doubles can be bought for £20.00 on ebay, or facebook, freecycle etc. wood effect, etc. only problem is collecting them and access when you get them home, I insulated mine with rockwool and 4mm ply, cost, no condensation, no rot, the last one I bought came with an electric motor and two remotes, flogged that lot for more than the door cost, cut the door in half and made them side hung, the pair on the left were also £20.00, the main doors were the 14 foot up and over,

i've used (metal) garage doors to make sheds + fences for years.
one of the very first trailers i rebuilt was purpose made to carry a dozen at a time back from the local garage door place (used to buy them out of their scrap skip @10 quid apiece).

it was more a "comparison" exercise: i hoped someone on here would do enough glassfibre to say "i price fibre glass boat hulls at £120 a sqm" or some such.
