I am in the process of making a wood stove, just got the cylinder and I just need to get my finger out

Andy start a small bonfire in the middle of the floor to keep you warm while you do it

Watch out for the gas staying in the cylinder , for in very cold weather it might not have all evaporated out / fallen out even though the cylinder might have been upside down with valve open/removed for a week or more.
Butane is far worse than propane for it not evaporating .... take care ........
Sometimes in very cold weather there is an oily residue in the cylinder that goes BANG in very nasty & loud words ! when heated /ignited.

The cylinder has had the valve open for quite a while and so is as empty as empty can be.......
My brother bought it from 200 miles away, and he only realised the valve was open when he got a slight whiff of gas as he was driving along!
I will leave it for a few days upside down with the valve open, and then flush it out with water a few times before topping brim full and then leaving it for a few days more.
You can never be too careful
The cylinder is a 19KG Propane, and I want to build an upright version with a rearward flue/chimney and a Hob on the top for a kettle
I still need to work out the design that I will go with......

i built one from the big bottle with rear flu exit and can sit a kettle on the top gets too hot to stand near

can't believe your windshield wash freezes. here in norway they come as a standard with -36 as freezing temp. and if you buy the concentrated you can mix it to hold -45.
Been mostly from -10 to -30 where I live so glad I don't have uk windshield wash :P

mix the screenwash with water, at the higher end of the scale 30 %water and 70% screenwash and it wont freeze.
Neat antifreeze will freeze also it needs the water in it.

For the general public ,global warming and ozone zealots as well as the profitability of selling water have seen most UK suppliers sell two types of screen wash ..
" Super summer strength ", which freezes at +3 oC and " Winter Arctic strength " which freezes at minus 5 oc anything else is considered as common as rocking horse poo and is only available after two weeks of minus 10 oC as " There ain't much call for that sort of stuff Mate so we don't sell it ". It freezes at minus nine when used neat.

in norway they sell the same screen wash all year round, and we have hotter summers than you guys ever have :P I guess they save 1p pr 1000 liters buy diluting it :P
