I've a few questions on Arc welding. I'm only starting out with a 70s/80s buzz box. CEA Sureweld 140 (that I done a quick restoration on here) and rods that are of an uncertain age. Could be at least or around 10 year old. Dry stored in a hotpress. They are clean and the flux doesn't appear damaged anywhere.
Starting off I'm finding it....
I'll post up a pic tomorrow of my welds for reference.
Starting off I'm finding it....
- Hard to strike an arc (6013 3.2mm rod with amps around 90 -110 ish)
- With the above rod and power should I see penetration on the opposite side of a 6mm piece of material.
- Hard to chip off slag (seems to take a good few heavy hits with a chissel and breaks off in tiny bits)
