Ferm finger sander

Of late I noticed my sander seemed to change speed randomly. Opened it up and saw the speed controller has some damage.




Found a replacement part here but thought someone maybe able to recommend any alternatives that are feely available?

Or; Can I just chuck the speed controller and wire the two tails together - I only use full speed anyhows?

I don't see a price in that link, but I'm sure it'll not be much. I'd replace the switch for all the cost.

Not sure why I bypassed looking at the Ferm site. Thanks for finding that GrahamGKD, but €32 delivered is a bit rich and more than the tool is worth!

my evolution powerfile did the same (out of warranty) couldn't find it as a spare part on the website and noticed the clarke version was the same emailed the mm parts dept to be told it would cost £50 and delivery would be 6 months! took the controller out joined the wires together and 5 years on had no problems since. although a slightly slower speed would be usefull i'm willing to put up with it for now!

Hmmm Only five years extra use you say - Drat, not sure if its worth the bother now but I'll give it a shot
