Fence H posts

Hi all,i normally only weld m/s or alloy for machinary repairs using mig or arc.

However a friend of swmbo needs a large fence repaired at her horse paddock.
This is comprised of galvanised H posts and large panels between.I dont know what sort of metal these are,i.e. are they structural steel or something??

Would it be ok to arc these with a 6013 rod or should i use a 7xxx rod or something different.
mY machine is capable of 150A and i cant use the mig as i only have a 47kg bottle of coogar gas which i aint lugging around a paddock and im certainly not wasting the smaller pure argon bottle on these.

All advice appreciated.

Are the panels galved.

I'd have thought they are likely to just be m/s...just grind of the galve and use 6013's.

Unless new posts have been used to support old wrought iron fencing.

HI,thanks.... all the fence and posts are galv coated...so ill just grind clean and use the 6013's.

Try using something like.........now they have changed the name, Oerlikon supercords or BOC vitemax ( I think) good results!
