Think I'm just going to push the button on a bandsaw while I'm feeling spendy.
I have actually added the NG120XL to my basket and was about to check out..
but, there are some large ~12" proper-ish hydraulic arm bandsaws available for only about twice the price. - a SIP 12", and the currently out-of-stock everywhere Sealey SM35CE.
While the latter would take up space, I could probably make room for it. I might never use it mind you, but I'm hoping that this time around I'll properly get into this stuff. I'm determined to become a proper hobby metalworker. Still haven't wired up the VFD to the lathe mind-you, 3 years later..
It seems to come down to:
the NG120XL has a swivel head, so you can change the set up for angles and stuff without having to mess about with the vice positioning.
while the ~£1600 big machines, if I am reading it properly, they use a moving vice sort of like the chop saws use. Is that fair to say?
Obviously cut capacity is important though.
I'm not really in need of a portable unit as such, I have the Milwaukee lithium hand-held one for random chopping of things.
