I picked up a little linisher yesterday, 3 of the 4 bearings in the rollers have collapsed cages so I'm ordering up some replacements.
The originals are open bearings with a felt sealing washer and compression ring, the felt washers are knackered too.
I've always had little success finding "engineering" felt, even for way wipers and I think there might be better options anyway, that being said if anyone knows where I can get some 5mm felt I'd love to know?
I'm thinking of going sealed bearings or open bearings with lip seals in lieu of the felt washers.
Or would felt be better for stopping the ingress of grit?
The bearings are grease lubricated through the ends of the shaft, sealed bearings would remove the need for periodic lubrication and I don't think the added friction from the seals would be an issue...I can always remove the inner seal and lube as normal too.
Thoughts?
