Hi,

Been doing a little messing with tube, in particular trying to join angles. Its 50mm, 2mm wall. Any feedback to help me improve would be greatly appreciated.

The welds seem a little high (proud from the tube), but lower wire speed messes it all up.

I am also getting 'lost' when welding and I can't see the bit I should be welding! I ordered some new lenses for my mask and I read a suggestion to improve the lighting (I thought lighting did not matter as it generated so much when welding). Any other tips?

Do you have a picture of the fit up before welding? It's difficult to judge as what looks like too much power could just be a poor fit up of the joint. My suggestions would be don't weave (although a slight pause as you move along the joint could be necessary if the fit up is poor) and practice moving your head with the torch. If the angle which you look at the torch changes then you can guarantee your torch angle will change. Practice with a fillet joint with a similar thickness material. Once you have established your power settings are ok it will be much easier to find out where you're going wrong.

more voltage, less wire if you think the welds are sitting high...as for more lighting, good ambient lighting can help no end, but so can a decent auto darkening mask...i was taught with a shade 10 which i thought was great for stick welding, but when i started mig welding i just couldnt see anything through it. got an auto dark and it was much easier but make sure you get an adjustable one as you wont always need the same shade

It hasn't gone well tbh and the problem is consistency. Going round a tube with mig should be no more than a 2 run operation. If you have had to stop and spot it in because your going through it then the unit is either set up incorrect or your fit up is poor. Either one of those cases will effect how you takle it and the results you get.
