Favourite dismantling fluid?

On the premise that it is never too late to learn what do forum members rate as a good "dismantling fluid" for freeing off seized threaded fastenings?
I've always liked Plus Gas in a can with a spout but only seem to see spray cans now. Holts used to do a "Graphited Penetrating Oil" but that seems to have disappeared, also seem to remember some thing called Rustola but haven't seen it for ages.
If the seized item an be immersed in a bucket of diesel it seems as good as anything but not always practicable!
Don't suggest WD40 - useless!!

Like you say, I never found anything better than diesel. I use it from one of them plastic spray bottles (Mr muscle cleaner) etc. Needs to be a soft plastic bottle as the diesel cracks the hard plastic ones for some reason.

Don't suggest WD40 - useless!!

I have never understood why people would even think of using a Water Dispersant instead of penetrating oil. Just shows the power of Yank advertising I suppose. It's about the only thing they are superb at, selling junk and convincing people it must be the user's fault. Microsoft being the best example of that. ;-)

PlusGas has always been my weapon of choice. Always in aerosol form though as I find it easier to treat fixings in awkward places. For a straight fluid, I would likely mix some Acetone with Diesel.

If I know well in advance that I am going to be working on an item that is likely to have seized I will start spraying it with red diesel (sometimes with the addition of a rag to keep the fluid in contact longer) , just a little but very often. Say 2 or 3 times per day for the 3-7 days before I am going to do the work. Never had it fail yet.

If I dont have much notice I still use the red but try to give it as much time as possible. Once the item has started to give I will work it back & forth adding more red as I do.

Before I had red on hand I used to use duck oil in a hand powered spray bottle filled from a gallon container.

PB Blaster seems ok.

I rarely use it. If it won't come free by hand, I usually find no magic potion will work. Cant beat a good torch.

I use a mix as well, acetylene and oxygen and if it is very tight I increase the oxygen!!!
I have NEVER failed to get something undone or loose or off

Used to have a penetrating fluid made by Belzona at work in the 70's, don't know if it's still available, but it seemed to unstick anything.

Same here, well when I haven't got acetone I use thinners and ATF.

I mechanic friend of mine showed me recently an aerosol unseizing spray he uses,
it leaves a kind of grey paint finish when sprayed on the thread,

He demonstrated it by winding a nut onto a bolt, then beat the thread on the end with a hammer, sprayed the silver stuff on the damaged thread, put the bolt head in the vice and wound the nut off as if the thread was barely damaged at all,
apparently its something to do with preventing the heat build up with friction?
its not so much a release agent like plusgas but an aid for damaged bolts.

next time i'm passing i'll some more details on the stuff.

This stuff is brilliant. Rusted Range Rover suspension bolts, soakbthe night before with Heave Ho, no problems :-)

gt85 any good? Not sure if its a penetrating fluid as such or a lubricant, smells nice though.

EDIT: According to their website one of its uses is penetrating fluid...

"GT85 is a strong penetrating oil and will free rusted bolts, hinges, door and window gear."
