I had myself seriously worried today. I thought the gas value on my IFL wasnt working properly. Hit the foot pedal and it welds ok for a second and then starts to look like swiss cheese. Try again and the same happends. Obviously a gas fault, checked the gauge plenty of gas and the flow rate is good according to the guage.
With out getting the torch to close to my ear (bear in mind the HF was on and would happly try to use my ear as an earth) listened to the gas, plenty of gas to start with and then it dies and runs out of gas. At this point i was begininng to wonder if the gas valve in the machine was faulty as the guage was reading ok. Checked all the pipe work to make sure no kinks in the gas pipe or blockages in the torch, Nothing.
I decide at this point to borrow the reg from the Mig and swap it over, despite the guage showing a half full bottle and a supposed flow rate of around 10 litres. Swapped the regs and perfect flow again, at which point my heart stopped beating as fast, and the faulty reg headed air bourne towards the bin.
No doubt something in the guage is a little sticky, but as its high pressure gas and no user servicable parts, the bin is the best place for it. wouldn't catch me messing with a regulator
