Hello everyone, I have a question because the welding machine I use has lost its speed after calibrating the wire feed speed, do you know where the problem may be? Kemppi fastmig KM400 welder,
We use kempi's at work, they've hard used and many issues occur, but usually simple things; check these items before looking for electrical/electronic maladies:
1: that the drive roller has a Woodruff key fitted, that it's not loose or broken:
2: the wire drive rollers are the correct size, not worn, that they're clean and the drive roller tension is correct,
3: the wire spool tensioner is just tight enough to prevent overrun:
4: the wire guide tubes, there should be one between the spool of wire and rollers, a short one between the two drive rollers (dependant upon model) and another from the drive rollers into the torch liner, these must be clean and damage free'
5: ensure that the torch cable liner is clean, the correct size for the wire, the correct length and suitable for the wire being used: a steel liner for steel wire, teflon for aluminium:
6: fit a new contact tube, spatter adhering to the tip can cause huge problems:
At work I'd simply fit new components throughout, but if money is a problem, then inspect and clean, blow the liner out with an airline, fit a new contact tube: an
I have seen a similar issue with a ps5000 set. I found a relay in the cooler causing the issue. Apparently some control wires passes through the control board
