I hardly use my micrometers because they are so flipping slow. I bought a used Mitutoyo Quickmike on Ebay but had to return it due to unreliable readings.
There is a new style out called a snap lever mike.
This seems to be available in several flavours. Iguaging in the USA. DML, Moor and Wright and Daquara in the UK. Looks like they are all made in the same factory. The M+W one is almost the same price as a Mitutoyo quantum mike which is faster than a standard one.
All the cheaper ones seem to be out of stock. They look like a great idea but from what I can gather the thimble is just for show and does nothing which seems a shame.
They are far from new - this Youtube video is 9 years old
Anyone have any experience of suggestions for something under say £120.
