Hi,
I've been using an arc welder but now I'm thinking of getting a gasless Mig.
I have a Star Weld 190, it has to outputs 48v & 70v and it can take 1.5 to 4mm rods ant it runs off a 13A plug. My welds tend to be "bird splattery" (Maybe because I'm not a trained welder)
I had a go with the local engineers gas Mig yesterday and it was a lovely smooth weld. I could see how easy it would be to build up welds for strengthening.
I live on the Isles of Scilly, gas has to be freighted in and I couldn't really justify the extra costs as I only spend a few hours welding each year, normally repairing farm machinery. The type of welding is normally 5mm or more.
Here's a few gasless migs that I've spotted:
210 AMP MIG WELDER GAS / GASLESS SEALEY MIGHTYMIG210 £445 Ebay
NO GAS GASLESS MIG WELDER EN160 CLARKE 6014560 £249 Ebay
Varmig 160Amp single phase mig welder 240V, £290 DIY Welding limited
Are any of these any good?
Can you suggest a better option please?
I do have three phase but 13amp is preferred as it's obviously more portable
Thanks
