It's a pity they don't give details on how it was made as for cost money doesn't look to have been a problem I think if I lived near there workshop I would spend most of my time looking in the windows

I'm the person who did this project. I've seen many people from this site connecting to the harlechhouse website, and because I have a high respect for blacksmiths (having employed 3 for 7 years!) I thought I'd just clarify: the dragon gates are 316 stainless, electropolished. Most of the work outside is 316, inside mainly stainless, some mild stee;l with the galvinising stripped, sanded after work and then left outside to rust for a little gracefully, then cleaned off and brought inside - a nice leathery look.

There's a lot of blacksmith work, you can see it all on www.harlechhouse.com.
The work won the 'Worshipful company of blackksmiths' gold cup, only awarded occasinally, and never before outside the UK.

It's the design that amazes me - I've often thought about trying a little creative metalwork, but the design is the bit that holds me back. The work in the house really is creative. Are you the artist John?

Word on the street says it's privately owned with the Welsh connection hence the dragon

it's cos a lot of us are married to women...

They are stunning gates though!

It's not just the fab work that I couldn't do, I'd have no chance with the design/concept either.

I was thrown out of the art lessons at school as I was so bad!

Dragon gates

Hi
I'm the fellow who built this house.
Three blacksmiths worked on the forged work for about 7 years, th outdoor work is 316 electropolished, the inside a mixture of handpolished 304 and mild steel with galcanising stripped off, sanded then left to rust, then rubbed down and brought inside for a leathery look.

This work won the worshipful company of blacksmith's tonypandy gold cupm rarely awarded, and never before for work outside the UK.
