The retaining wall at the bottom of my garden has a lean on ,it’s broken away each end of the leaning section, approx 8m,there’s no drainage holes in the wall, and about 6m from the wall,is a very old apple tree which is also a suspected culprit for pushing.
So initially,I’m proposing to buttress against the wall with some steel columns, sunk in the ground a suitable depth, the meadow floods annually to a depth of up to 2’ although the water subsides after a few hours. I’ve lived here,on and off for 34 years and the progress of lean has been very gradual, but I’m sure it will eventually collapse.
My question is, how many/frequency should the columns be erected? Thanks.
