Fair fuel price campaign, URGENT !!

It is very much worthwhile for anyone who is apalled at the high and still increasing price of diesel and petrol to apply pressure to their MP to attend the Fair Fuel Price debate which will take place in the House of Commons on the 15th.
Bear in mind that the goverment intends to increase fuel duty twice again in 2012, in Jan and August, adding another 33p per gallon !!

Use the following link to send a letter to your MP, do it for yourself, your family, friends and every other poor sod in the UK who is being raped just to fill their car with fuel !!

Don't worry, I sent my MP an email a few days ago... still don't think it'll do any good. It's a bit like asking for a payrise at work, you can make all the noise you want but if they won't part with it, it's put up or get out. I'm starting to think getting out is tempting

Getting out of the country? Its always an option if you were so inclined, lived alone or had a seriously supportive family,As well as some money going spare to make the initial jump as well as to support yourself during the transition. In which case you could stay here really and live fairly comfortably anyway.

I would definatley leave though! If my circumstances changed to a point were it would just be me,and my decission, then I would go. But Doubt if I will ever see that day

^This. I like the angle fairfuel are taking (people are using less so you're losing money, make it cheaper and we'll buy more) but i wouldn't be suprised if the goverment tries to link the lower consumption to people switching to horrid ecoboxes rather than people leaving their cars at home.

Bottom line... cars etc are necessary (i doubt i was sat in gridlocked S London rush hour yesterday because everyone decided to it'd be fun to take the car for a spin) and they know it

The TaxPayers’ Alliance (TPA) has launched a major tax transparency campaign, releasing a tax app and research showing the true cost of everyday items.

The Tax Buster app for smartphones allows shoppers to find out how much they really pay when buying everyday items.

With a few details about any purchase Tax Buster can calculate how much money from an item went on VAT and duties. It will also tell a shopper how much they had to earn before taxes to make the money to buy the product.

For example:

20 cigarettes that cost £6.49 would have been £1.24 without indirect taxes. Paying the £6.49 required £11.35 in earnings before income and corporate taxes are taken into account.

Filling the car up with £60 of petrol would have only cost £23.86 without indirect taxes. Paying the £60 required £104.84 in earnings before income and corporate taxes are taken into account.

The app aims to bring greater clarity and help illustrate the need for more transparent taxes. The Government has been pushing for more spending transparency, so the TaxPayers’ Alliance is now pushing for greater tax transparency to match this.

The app is being released with a report detailing the taxes on everyday items like wine, tobacco and fuel. Taxpayers will be able to see, at the touch of a button, the extent to which taxes increase the amount they need to earn to afford the items they purchase.

We should all have a bash at this. It's better to have tried and failed, than to have failed to try.

There are times now, when we have to think twice before visiting some folks, because the cost of fuel is so high.
Buses sometimes aren't an option. Its starting to remind me of when I was a little kid. We lived in a village that had two buses a week, Wednesdays and Saturdays, market days in the nearest town.
FYL if you missed the one back, no money for taxis in those days. Plenty of time to sober up on the 15-mile walk home...
