Bit more done today around the fab bench relocated some cables so now all run neatly in the new cable protector.

Folded up a bit of scrap Ali chequer which acts as a cable tidy/protector

Also put on a new power lead on the plasma ended up like open heart surgery!

Did a bit more wiring on the rsa deburrer just got to work out the 2 speed switch wiring and it’ll be complete!

Excellent that's like what I did. Got a lifetime collection of old stuff that I use , can't beet it. I just got rid of my mechanical iron worker for a more modern hydraulic Kingsland recently though. Do you make dog trailers as well as cages? I always wanted to to do a few products but always ended up just doing general fab.

At the moment I only do cages but looking to branch out into accessories and maybe some trailers it’s a whole world that I’m not so familiar with but have accidentally become involved in! I made one cage for someone and it took off from.

I would say never underestimate the amount of work a product takes to get right I’ve been making cages 3yrs and I’m still changing them now!

Thank you. It’s been a steep learning curve out of necessity there’s such a shortage of engineers and really I wouldn’t of had the funds to pay someone so I’ve had to learn how to tackle it myself! Could wire a plug when I first started and that was it and now I’m doing motor control circuits with delay relays!

Tube deburrer super simple. Massive heavy duty wire brush (can get mild or stainless and i think brass!) 2 speed selectable and just touch the material against it and removes external and internal burrs.

I used to use the exact same machine in stainless exhaust industry with a stainless brush fitted removed the burr super quick from a cold saw cut mines the rsa mono still made this is the company

I know what you mean when you are talking about working in your garage . While I was a teenager my dad had a big steel construction company with big machines , 20 employees , my dream was to finish school and go work there .

Then 2008 arrived and he had to close that company , all work went out of the door and moved in Romania , Poland , Slovakia ... . He lost almost everything , so he had to start from zero in our garage , then I finished school and started to work with him .

Aftet 5 years I decided that it was time to find a real shop , he was not convinced because he was still scared from 2008 ( how I understabd him..) but I just said ' Dad , it's time to go ' , and I convinced him .

And we found a big shop ( 11 meters x 30 meters ) .
Started completely empty , after 5 years we are full of machines , we cannot move ! Planning to expand it with more 200 squared meters .

2008 has been a drama but on the other hand I have to say it helped me a lot because I learnt things from zero , with empty pockets and almost anything to work with ( a welder , a drill press , a belt saw , that's it ) , I learnt what does it mean to work with almost nothing , hungry for work and equipment , it pushed me so hard to rise and make my life better .
And my dad allowed me to learn the best job in the world , every day is different , every job is different .

Love that great work. Definitely work out there just got to go and get it and put some graft in! Does give you an appreciation when starting from nothing I find I can think on my feet a better and tend to complete projects that others find impossible

Had to clear away to get on with some real work Heres a picture of the rsa how it stands currently just the motor and speed switch wiring left to sort.

And this mess of a work piece rest lots of it is missing and what I have got is completely mangled! I may contact rsa and see cost of spares as there’s a plastic v block as the workpiece rest and I don’t currently have the capability to machine this. Rest I can handle myself.

That sounds pretty good... I could do with a deburrer that could handle 50x50x3 stainless box section. I didn't even know a machine like that existed.

There’s a few other companies doing them but most look a bit smaller machines think this is 3hp or something. Works really well if your cutting with a sharp blade on a cold saw ( I’m not sure how it’ll handle a bandsaw cut) burr comes off instantly but still leaves a nice edge for tig

Being super-picky, but I'd have some rubber/plastic edging round the top where the cables run down through, to prevent chafing/cutting of the insulation.
But that's just me......

Yes you do slight angle and rotate (obviously not so quick on square tube) RSA do let you demo their machines with your parts from what I’ve read they can advise what’s best for each application.

As a side contacted RSA for spares. They’ve sent me an instruction manual and I’ve ordered a new brush and plastic vee block workpiece rest I was missing so happy to be able to get some parts and both were really reasonable cost.

They are very powerful machines definitely to be respected. Hence the two emergency stops! It’s the sort of task you can switch off easily doing a big batch of and then it catches and you come back into the room

I'm intrigued by the deburring machine.
I can see it's just a typical induction motor inside the housing, but I'm guessing it's just got a wire brush mounted on the end, and what looks like a shiny roller in your picture, is just a support/anvil?

Yes it’s a standard 2 speed 3 phase motor. Big wire brush mounted on the end. The shiny roller is where the brush gets mounted on. I’ll gets some pics once some parts arrive next week.

Some goodies came today from RSA new wire brush and also a plastic workpiece vee block. Last few jobs heading out the door and then the workshop is shut for Xmas maintenance

This will answer that question It’s just a rest for the workpiece that you are deburring

Got a new slider part made It’s much heavier duty than the original and a better fitment in the slot

That’s it all assembled with the old brush (still has loads of life) top guard is a piece of 2mm stainless with a small bottom fold for rigidity

Just need a shorter clamping lever, few paint touch up, bit of grease and the last bit of electrics and it’ll be ready to go into place and into use!

Not much too update I was hoping to get some woodwork done In the coming days but ive managed to do my back in shifting a meddings pillar drill from home to unit So plans Are on hold!
