Just checked my last winter quarter bill, mine is a submeter fitted in the workshop so I buy the power from the landlord and its subject to VAT. I assume they make a profit on it.Evening gents, got my first electric bill for the 1/4 and it seems massively expensive...
Just looking to see what you guys are paying if you do not mind giving me some ball park figures.
I do maybe 2-3 hours a day TIG welding. A lot of that time the welder is sat turned on, but idling. Rarely use the lights. Office PC on all day and frequent use of grinders etc.
£350 for the 1/4!
In comparison, my next door neighbor, a busy garage, claims to pay on average £150 per 1/4. He does a lot of MOT Welding repairs.
Input appreciated.
Seen those plug in ones for a tenner off the bay, might give them a go
Did you look at the link in post #5?.
well is it the landlords sub meter or the electricity boards meter for each unit if its the boards they will have the computer records from day one and it needs sorting either waySo after some tests today. The meter marked for my Unit - is the wrong meter! I Flicked off the supply for My Unit, it stayed on. I flicked off the meter for another unit, my unit turned off. Neither the Landlord or EON want to take responsibility.
Im Furious!!
but at the end of the day its the landlord responsibility if he bills u .that's his problem who he got to do itIts not the first time this sort of thing has happened. Who bills you the landlord or Eon? I would say liability is with who ever marked the meters and isolators.

I wouldn't worry about it says on the meter, mine says "Property of Scottish Power" but I get my electric from Swalec, when you change supplier they don't change the meter.I get billed by Npower, but the meters say "property of EON" on them.
No Rads (Yet...)You don't have electric rads or heaters on the go do you? Once did that in a cold shop and it was totally unacceptable what they used
I wonder how long the person in the unit before you moved in was paying someone else's electric for?
Hope you get something sorted without it getting complicated.
yesQuick question if I can for the sparks here, as I understand it the electric company owns every thing upto and including the electric meter and everything after it belongs to the consumer, so wouldn't the fault here belong to the landlord if the wiring fault is located after the meter
