There are online tables if the recommended shade to use for various welding processes.

Basically the higher the amps the darker the shade. Shades 12-13 are normally for over 200 amps. Most of the time my mask is set at 9 or 10.

That right there, thanks , i have been welding on high amps recently doing excavator bucket repairs ect.

I think squinting at computer and phone screens through bloodshot, watery eyes for hours on end (guilty on occasion) will cause more problems than welding with proper PPE.

Of course, the next massive CME will put a stop to all of that.
