External/outside cabinet for bench grinder

Just wondered whether this is a feasible option. I'm wanting to shift the bench grinder out of the workshop so that I don't have to worry about grinding dust getting where it shouldn't, and then my mind latched onto a large fridge which is being chucked. Would it be feasible to mount a bench grinder inside a fridge, on a shelf/stand? Sealed to the elements when door closed, so would save me farting about making a lean-to or such up the side of the shed.

Can’t see why it wouldn’t work. I’d drill some ventilation holes too, to stop damp air causing rust

similar thoughts here except gonna use an old tool trolley. Wheel it outside when needed and all bench grinder s consumables 4 inch grinder can live on it
Gives me the option of using inside if its raining.

Wheeling something outside isn't an easy option for me. The landscape outside the workshop is, shall we say, challenging. Tried this grinder just about everywhere in the workshop, and it's always within short spitting distance of machined/scraped surfaces, so I've totally given up on using it inside now.

No. Basically thats a really tiny metal shed with a magnet strip door. It will make your place look like a pikey squat and anything you leave in there is going to rust solid in no time. Build a micro shed, all it needs is a few simple fence panels and a felt roof.

One flaw in that plan. Well, two actually, come to think of it.

1) I'd be lucky if I could fit another thing in the shed if I tried.

2) The fridge would be free.

Bear in mind older fridges catch fire easily. The plastic mouldings and the foam insulation are highly flammable.

I used old fridge/freezers as outside storage and they didn't keep rain out and got very mouldy inside, and indeed make my yard look like a Pikey squat, but than again so does all the scrap metal piled up there.

A good better for them is to lay them on their back and use them as compost bins.

Bear in mind older fridges catch fire easily. The plastic mouldings and the foam insulation are highly flammable.

I used old fridge/freezers as outside storage and they didn't keep rain out and got very mouldy inside, and indeed make my yard look like a Pikey squat, but than again so does all the scrap metal piled up there.

I'll scrub that idea then, if they don't keep the water out. Age wise, it's only a couple of years old.

I no what you mean Matt. I got to try and home another 4 machines in this place. Ain't going to happen. Temporary extensions I think.
