Exhaust welding

Im in canada so I can rent certain gas, argon, O2 that I know of. Also would this welder be good enough to weld garage shelves and maybe a strut bar for a car?

At 85 amps, it should be able to do up to about 1/8" steel. You can extend that a bit by beveling the area and doing a thicker weld. You can also weld both sides of thicker things if possible.

For gas, you will want Argon/CO2 mix (usually 75/25.)

Strictly speaking you should use a dissimilar 309 grade wire but if the job isn't critical you could get away with standard stainless wire or even mild steel (although it would rust unless coated). What's the 'can'?, you will struggle welding a bar onto very thin walled stuff.

He said its a 'Cherry Bomb' (?) just needs a custom bracket fitted to it. Cheers for the advice. If using mildsteel wire, would I still use Co2?
