Exhaust Manifold

Hi,

I am (slowly) building a Locost. The current exhaust manifold is mild steel. I plan to use the first half of it, then fabricate beyond that point. These seemed to be aimed at handrail builds rather than manifolds. Any reason they wouldn't work? They look perfect and are significantly cheaper than anything bought from exhaust parts suppliers.

They look to be sch 40 for normal pipe, not tube.

You could use them it will just be a bit heavier. Have you looked into making your own using the lobster/pie cut method. There is plenty of YouTube videos that show you how.

Mine is 316 dairy pipe.. wrong grade stainless but 10 years old now and not fell apart yet

I have used them before. Nice and heavy like a cast iron manifold.

I think I am going to have to make an exhaust manifold to re locate a turbo, and these will be ideal. I think.

I thought about that but I was worried that it would it would make for a rougher than necessary interior to the manifold. Probably make so little difference that I'd never notice!

I'll be able to use half of the factor manifold, so it really shouldn't add too much weight.
